Take a Hike

There is something empowering about being on top of a mountain. Knowing you climbed your way to the top takes it to a whole different level. All the cliché references exist for a reason, making your way to the top of any mountain takes time, effort, and skill. The mountain can be figurative or literal, the result can still be breathtaking.

Strap on your boots because we aren’t just walking; we’re hiking. The daring combination of rugged terrain and unsure footing makes all the difference. It adds that natural grit and athletic prowl of a hiker. Some hike for pleasure, some for adventure, and some for the adrenaline. Whatever the reason, it is a great way to get stranded. Disclaimer: don’t go off the beaten trail so far it takes a helicopter and trained dogs to find you!

Hiking brings nature and achievement together. Whether it is a well beaten and documented trail or the unadulterated blazing of the wild blue yonder, the journey is well worth the effort. The end of the trail or top of the mountain offer acceptance, respect, and solitude. Even if it is inner solitude, it can clear your mind and reset your soul. Breathtaking landscapes and marveling heights are often the backdrop of a successful climb. As varied as the destination, hikes offer a multitude of fitness levels, therapeutic benefits, and stranded qualifications.

Don’t go this one alone. Even if it is peace and solitude you seek, take a buddy. Hiking can be dangerous and having a friend is not only smart, but could be vital to your success. The key here is taking the right friend for the right hike. That’s right, if you need time to think your chatty bestie might need to sit this one out. No harm, no foul. Think of it this way, a chatty bud will be better off at home than you pushing him/her off the side of a mountain. That would definitely be a foul.

While a lot can be said for spontaneity, it can also be fun and smart to plan the adventure in advance. This gives you time to have everything you need for safety and practical purposes, but it also gives you something to look forward to. A Saturday or weekend getaway may be just what you need. The excitement of making plans and anticipating some time outdoors can make your week go by faster and even give you some pep in your step. You may even be able to let your co-worker’s snarky remarks go by the way because you are going hiking!

So check out the trails in your area and get the lay of the land! Find out what adventures await you as you strap on those hiking boots and grab your backpack. Another disclaimer: bugs, snakes, poison ivy, and random animals are all part of the experience. Embrace the adventure! Get stranded, stay stranded, and scratch later.

We are surrounded! Probably not what you expect or want to hear if you’re going for the stranded lifestyle. Play along and hold off judgement until the end.

To make it more interesting, we are going to put you in a chair and let you face the barricade for hours. Still worried? Oh there’s one more thing, the barricade will make advancements threatening you and your chair. Stress setting in?

Stay calm because with Stay Stranded, there is always good news and here it is. It is by far, the most relaxing and beautiful barricade ever designed. Why? Man didn’t design it nor can he control it, so he just enjoys it!

About 71 percent of the Earth's surface is water-covered, and the oceans hold about 96.5 percent of all Earth's water. 1 That’s right, we are surrounded by water. Glorious water that playfully encroaches on our land masses and beautifies the Earth’s surface. Can you imagine the pictures from space without it? Not to get all astronauty or technical on you, but think about that for a sec.

Okay, so back here on the Earth’s surface, we play around, on, and in water for recreation. Lakes, streams, and ponds fill our days with fishing, boating, and swimming. But there is something magical about the oceans. They are powerful and majestic, yet tranquil and serene. And then there’s the beach! Every magnificent grain of sand.

Ahhhh the beach, the playground where humanity meets humility. The playground that commands respect, yet offers whimsical days without end. The backdrop for eternal sunrises and sunsets where you can see for miles on end. The place where the horizon is a million miles away but right in front of you. We dot this playground with our toys, umbrellas, and cutesy, although somewhat, skimpy attire. We set up shop for hours, days, or a lifetime. Why?

Because it creates an oasis. Okay, there is a lot of sand. And yes, sand sticks to absolutely everything and finds places no one even knew existed. And the sun will make its mark on you literally if you aren’t careful. But,….if you give it a chance, it won’t disappoint. The beach is an escape from normalcy that is beautifully orchestrated with the soothing sounds of waves crashing and the smell of salt air. Life is slower, simpler, and unassuming. You can make the beach your own oasis. Load up the car, golf cart, or wagon or just walk out the door barefoot and empty handed. The best part is that it doesn’t matter. It’s your call, on your terms. Tell us how you get stranded at the beach!

Get Stranded in the Game

It’s one, two, three strikes you’re out at the ole ball game! It’s true the walk back to the dugout after a strikeout is a lonely stranded walk. It can be a long few seconds. On the flip side, every at bat is an opportunity to give the leather covered ball the ride of a lifetime over the field, the players, and finally, the fence. Every baseball player’s highlight, a dinger. A home run that strands the ball outside the stadium. You might be tempted to feel bad for the ball, the pitcher, or even the other team, but the cheers of the crowd overtake all negativity and place you on an euphoric high that is unrivaled.

It has been deemed America’s favorite pastime. A patriotic symbol of good times, competition, and athleticism. From the legends of the game to the hot dogs and peanuts of your favorite stadium, it’s baseball. Where the crack of a wooden bat conjures up memories of warm summer nights, family, and mascot shenanigans. What’s not to love? Perhaps the crowded stands and long concession lines. Not to worry, it’s all part of the experience.

Ironically, sports are the perfect backdrop for life. Opportunities missed and opportunities capitalized in monumental, historic ways. Countless hours spent practicing and living for the moment to shine. Striving for the next level and next chance to prove talent, skill, hard-work, and dedication is part of an athlete’s dna. The adrenaline of a game, a match, or a heat is a lifetime rolled up into hours, minutes, or even seconds. It’s what athletes live for; an opportunity.

We are all given those same opportunities in life. Opportunities to shine, opportunities to take our blood, sweat, tears, and passion and turn them into life-altering moments. That’s what being stranded is all about. It is about creating moments that change your perspective. Moments that allow you to refocus, reset, and redirect. Whether you feel like the kid that just hit a dinger or the ball left stranded outside the stadium, being stranded is all about your perspective.

Games are won and lost. Athletes feel the pressure. Competition builds character, discipline, and resilience. Teams promote teamwork, responsibility, and accountability. Sports are exhilarating and infuriating. Whether you are competing or watching as an avid fan, you feel the excitement and the disappointment. You experience the highs and the lows. Your allegiance unwavering as you carry the torch and occasionally get burned. You love the players when you win and curse the umpires when you lose. It’s the experience. Pick a sport and get stranded. Step up to the plate and swing for the fence!
